There are several reasons why I like getting my morning coffee from Dutch Bros. Employees are always friendly, the coffee is smooth, and every cup has some sort of encouraging message on it.
Today’s cup had “best day ever” on top of it and as I was walking into my office my mind started thinking about why today is the best day ever.
Today is the best day ever because…
- God has granted me another day.
- The God of the universe knows me.
- God’s never answered a prayer “late.”
- I have everything I need for today.
- God has blessed me with my friends, family, and relationships.
The list could keep going and does keep going.
And the reasons why TODAY is the best day ever are also why YESTERDAY was the best day ever, and why TOMORROW will be the best day ever.
My “bad” days happen when I let my perspective and attitude drift. When I let trivial things or momentary discomforts affect the rest of my day. Those unpleasantries of life happen (see James 1) however, I do not have to let them take over. Even when things may not seem to be going my way the above truths do not change.
Remember the words of Paul, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” – Philippians 4:8 NKJV.
We see what we look for. Look for the reasons why today is the best day ever!
