What if your success at resisting your next temptation depended on how well you knew the book of Deuteronomy?

Studying Luke 4 Jesus quotes three Scriptures corresponding to the three temptations the Devil put before Him. All three quotations come from Deuteronomy.

v.4 – Deut. 8:3

v.8 – Deut. 6:13

v.12 – Deut. 6:16

As many of our Bible reading plans now hit the parts of the Old Testament we might be tempted to skim over let’s resist the urge to “get to the good part.” You never know, that reading from Deuteronomy this week might be invaluable in fighting temptation next week.

Let’s not forget, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV.
